Overall, vintage 2020 grapes show concentrated, mature flavor development and incredible structure. In Washington, typically low rainfall and moderate temperatures yielded fruit with the vibrant acidity and layered structure that the state is known for producing. California’s 2020 vintage experienced a cool, mild growing season with a heat spell in August that resulted in early ripening. We sourced fruit for our bold Inferno blend primarily from California, mainly from Lodi and the Central Valley, with a portion of the blend grown in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills and Columbia Valley regions. Plush and rich on the mouth, well-integrated tannins add texture and structure while hints of toasty vanilla and cocoa linger on the long, warm finish. Aging some of this Zinfandel-and-Merlot-led blend in whiskey barrels adds intriguing dimensions of maple and spice to Inferno’s dark, velvety-smooth layers of dried blackberries, black plum and cherry. The grapes were destemmed, lightly crushed and cold soaked overnight to encourage extraction of the fruit’s intriguing color and structure.Ģ020 Apothic Inferno is a Red Wine with a Whiskey Soul. A hint of Grenache adds intensity to the fruit expression, while the unique Graciano variety was blended in to brighten the acidity and add notes of red currant. ![]() Syrah complements the dark cherry flavors with soft blueberry notes. We selected Pinot Noir grapes from Lodi for their rich, ripe fruit characteristics and soft, approachable tannins. Wines from this vintage showcase vibrant acidity and concentrated flavors. California’s 2021 growing season was cool and mild, with a heat spell in August that resulted in an earlier than average harvest. With its cool evenings and warm days, Lodi is known as a producer of fragrant, concentrated, and silky textured fruit. We selected the majority of the grapes for Apothic Pinot Noir from the unique Lodi-Delta region in California. It’s a perfect pairing for an interesting night in with friends or perhaps to savor alongside a date night dinner. Long and lingering on the finish, this is a bright red wine with endless possibilities. Apothic Pinot Noir offers notes of ripe raspberry and black cherry, with a touch of caramel and vanilla from the oak. A flavorful Pinot Noir with rich, smooth layers of dark fruit character and an intriguingly lighter-bodied style.
